Rusty Lehr began playing piano and singing at age eight, started his first band
at fourteen and has performed in various rock groups as a keyboardist and
vocalist. Rusty is a graduate of Dean College
in Franklin MA. He majored in voice (Opera) with a minor in piano. His voice
instructor (Bertha Kaszinowski) had enrolled Rusty in
Julliard School of Music,
Rusty opted for Rock and Roll. Rusty strives for perfection and is a solo
performer now.
In 1980 Rusty and his partner lyricist Kenny Ketcham (presently of Ketcham
Publicity and Direction), released a record called "Goodbye Kidstuff"
and "What Legends Are Made Of." Rusty and Kenny established their
own independent record label, V.M.C. "Goodbye Kidstuff" was a hit locally
(Top 20), then marketed overseas, producing their first BMI checks.
When in LA, CA, at Warner Bros. Studios, Rusty was asked to host the audience,
giving him his first stint as an audience emcee for
Kirsty Alley's
"Veronica's Closet."
Rusty's emceeing talents resulted in repeated appearances on The
Howard Stern
Television and Radio show with
Dance
Fever host Deney Terrio. Offers led to radio jingles / song writing and
production as well as voice-overs for Rusty. Additional highlights include
introductions and working with some of the following: Glen Kolotkin
(Producer /Sound Engineer received Grammy for his work with Carlos Santana,
"Supernatural"); Peppy Castro (Producer / Sound Engineer, leader of the
legendary "Blues Magoos"); Mike Score ("A Flock of Seagulls" lead
vocalist); television actor Gerald S. O’Laughlin; Danny Robinson (CEO Agency
Performing Arts L.A./CA); Larry Holmes (former World Heavy Weight Champion);
Christie Brinkley (fashion model); Chansonnette Theatre Group; Big Shot Records;
Growcraft Golf Clubs; Omnipoint Communications; Elite Limousine.
